Alright,Horror story/RPG

This is going to be half story/half roleplay.I'll moderate,DM,kinda(for those out of the know thats dungeon master,i suppose I'd be the ST.Story-teller.Or something.)Timeline is post-modern,slight future:
It was inevitable,the slow downfall of what was left.First,the economies fell.Then it was anarchy.True anarchy.Now everything was "squatters rights."Humankind had double-stepped backwards to hunter-gathering or small,easily managed colonies.This,of course,was only where things would grow.The unsettling part was the darkness,and the things that lurked therein.Stories were told around fires,of the horrors.Peoples shadows turning against them,great horned beasts,the work of something sick and sadistic.The nomads were the only ones with any nerve left,everyone else lived in fear,misery...not the wanderers.They faced every day in this post-apocalyptic hell as opportunity,a chance to regain control and get ahead of where the world left them...

wouldnt it take half the time to say it takes place in the dark ages? but shure how do we do it?

The dark ages aren't the same as post-apoc.Dark ages don't have the knowledge of the technology.(I.E. cars that don't work in post-apoc.)It adds a sense of despair,knowing there was once the technology for it and now there isn't.In the dark ages,they didn't have advanced medical methods or computers or,for that matter,anything of the sort.You can't miss something if you never knew it existed!

As far as how it'll work,make it a sort of chapter,introduce your character,give them a background,what they did before things went to hell.Where there parents/family are or were.Where thier friends are or were.What thier occupation is/was.Things of that,as well as a character description.
